We don’t just “provide” cultural services, we are our culture.
Gwayakochige-Wigamig
A unique lineage of Ojibwe people
We aim to protect, preserve, and maintain our status as an independent nation in full sovereignty. Our tribe and staff are committed to preserving and conducting its affairs in a manner aligned with the expectations of our ancestors, elders, tribal members, and future generations.
The Ojibwe people use a promising strategy passed down from our elders. The Seven Grandfather Teachings: Love, Respect, Honesty, Humility, Bravery, Truth, and Wisdom. We implement these values into the core of all that we do. These values are embedded in the Ojibwe culture, accepted as effective by local communities, and support community healing from a cultural framework.
Whether it be in our drum and dance program, implementing a language table, in a prevention activity, or in a counseling session, these values will run through the veins of them all.
Gwayakochige-Wigamig is a cornerstone for intergenerational and community healing.

We are committed to ensuring that our Anishinaabe youth and their families have access to their Indigenous rights of community, belonging and cultural identity. The following values continue to guide our actions and decisions:
